In 1989, Julie Samphire set up Greenfields Nursery Schools Rogerstone in her family
home with a single vision, to provide private childcare that she would be happy
sending her own children to. Having dedicated 26 years to the teaching profession,
working with children ranging from infants through to senior school (including
children with special educational needs) Julie could see there was a growing need
for quality private childcare. Over the coming years she spent time on various committees
and partnerships helping shape the childcare sector and develop policies that form
the basis of what is in practice today.
This was a labour of love for Julie and 16 years flew by without her taking a single
holiday! This all came to an abrupt end when she was rushed into hospital. A short
spell on life support, a heart valve replacement and almost a year in hospital didnt
extinguish her enthusiasm. After making a full recovery shes still the driving force
behind Greenfields and is still respected and revered by her peers.
To this day, Julie has maintained a keen balance of fun and education at the nurseries
all in a happy homely environment. Educational practices have evolved over
the years but Greenfields always adapts and remains at the forefront of childcare
in the area. We are still in touch with some parents of children that have been
through the nurseries, and its very rewarding to hear that some of our first children
have passed their A-levels with flying colours and are heading on to University.
We may be biased, but we feel it has something to do with them coming to Greenfields
all those years ago.
